What to Build
Problem Statement
Overview
Every learner has hit a wall at some point a moment where the system wasn't built for them, the support arrived too late, or the right resource was simply nowhere to be found. Those moments aren't just frustrating they're the reason students disengage, fall behind, or give up entirely. Your challenge is to find one of those moments, understand it deeply, and build something that actually helps.
Your Challenge
Start with a problem you've lived, witnessed, or genuinely care about something real, not something a prompt generator spat out. Dig into it. Get specific. Then use data and AI to build a working solution that speaks directly to it. You have access to PUBLIC open academic datasets, APIs, and public institutional data use them. What you build doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to work and it has to matter. Ask yourself one honest question before you submit: if a struggling learner used this today, would it actually help them? That's your north star. The teams that go deep on a small, real problem will always outshine the ones that go wide on a vague, impressive sounding one.
